Port Detail

Ghana's main port

Tema handles the majority of Ghanaian seaborne trade — containers, bulk imports, cocoa exports and petroleum. The 2019 MPS Terminal 3 expansion brought 16-m draft and ULCV capability.

Cocoa export season

Ghana is the world's second-largest cocoa producer; the September-March main crop drives bulk carrier and container traffic that supports the bunker market.

Regional bunker network

Bunker supply at Tema is coordinated through West African regional physical suppliers serving Lagos, Lomé, Tema and Abidjan together.
